Turkey's export unit value index rose 12.6% year-on-year in June, while the import unit value index increased 12.9%, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) on Tuesday. The export unit value index climbed 12.6% in June compared with the same month last year. Within this, food, beverages and tobacco rose 5.9%, raw materials (excluding fuel) increased 4.8%, fuels surged 40.7%, and manufacturing (excluding food, beverages and tobacco) was up 11.6%.
During this period, fuels declined 29.6%, while food, beverages and tobacco increased 19.1%, raw materials (excluding fuel) rose 25.8%, and manufacturing (excluding food, beverages and tobacco) gained 9.7%. The import volume index increased 9% annually in June. Compared with the same month last year, fuels fell 7.5%, while food, beverages and tobacco surged 46.8%, raw materials (excluding fuel) rose 25.9%, and manufacturing (excluding food, beverages and tobacco) increased 13.9%.
According to the seasonally and calendar-adjusted series, the export volume index stood at 147.5 in May, falling 5.5% to 139.5 in June. In the calendar-adjusted series, the index was 148.9 in June last year, declining 5.7% to 140.5 this June. The seasonally and calendar-adjusted import volume index was recorded at 116.3 in May, rising 8.3% to 126 in June.
In the calendar-adjusted series, the index stood at 130.9 last June, falling 2.5% to 127.6 in the same month this year. calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index — stood at 90.3 in June last year and fell by 0.2 points to 90.1 this June.
