Turkey Scraps Fuel Price Hike As Global Market Costs Ease in Türkiye

A planned fuel price hike in Turkey was canceled after international market pricing shifted, leaving pump prices unchanged. The increase, which had been expected to take effect at midnight, would have raised the price of diesel by 5.14 Turkish liras per liter and gasoline by 1.50 liras per liter. According to industry sources, the hike was initially anticipated due to rising prices in foreign markets.

However, as international pricing changed during the day, the need for the increase disappeared, and the expected rise was not reflected in fuel prices. Fuel price volatility continues in Turkey, driven by exchange rates, oil prices, and tax increases. As a result of the canceled hike, current fuel prices in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir remain unchanged for gasoline, diesel, and LPG.
