The 81-year-old singer had a blocked coronary artery cleared and has been advised to rest for four weeks. The news comes after Stewart was forced to cancel a concert in Cleveland, Ohio, on Tuesday, following a postponement of a show in Cincinnati on Sunday. Earlier this year, he also had to cancel several concerts, including dates in Las Vegas and San Diego.
"After further medical evaluation, Rod Stewart underwent a routine unblocking. The doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well, having resumed his daily activities, the spokesperson said. "On the advice of doctors, he will take four weeks off to get back to normal form before he can perform again.
This unfortunately means he cannot continue with the planned tour dates. Stewart himself said: "I already feel better and am clearly on the mend, thanking the medical staff who have cared for him. "I am very disappointed to miss the concerts and to let the fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a great time with you all soon. The remaining dates of the "One Last Time" tour have been put on hold.
