Chilliwack RCMP Said the Underwater Recovery Team Found the Girl's Body on Aug. 10 Just Before 2 P.m., and the Investigation Has Been Turned

The body of a missing 13-year-old girl has been recovered from Cultus Lake in British Columbia, Canada, after she went under the water during a paddleboarding incident, police said. Chilliwack RCMP said the Underwater Recovery Team found the girl's body on Aug. 10 just before 2 p.m., and the investigation has been turned over to the BC Coroner Service.
The teen had been missing since Aug. 8. According to a previous RCMP update, the girl was floating on a paddleboard when she is believed to have suffered a medical emergency. She was not wearing a life jacket and is believed to have entered the water after falling off the board.
"Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased, said Cpl. Carmen Kiener of the Chilliwack RCMP. "This is a heartbreaking outcome, and we are deeply sorry for their loss. Police urged the public to take precautions around water, including always wearing a properly fitted life jacket, ensuring adequate swimming skills before entering the water, using the buddy system, and never swimming alone.
