Using Cell Phone Flashlights and Reflectors Aimed From the Ground, Residents Spent the Night Lighting in Colombia

The department of Chocó woke up Tuesday without rest. Using cell phone flashlights and reflectors aimed from the ground, residents spent the night lighting up the rubble, searching the darkness for any sign of those trapped after Monday's magnitude 7.4 earthquake. The epicenter was in San José del Palmar, in the most inland area of the jungle-covered department on the Pacific coast. The quake shook much of western Colombia and unleashed an emergency that is not over: in the first 24 hours, the region has felt nearly a hundred aftershocks.
