Brann Are One Two-legged Tie Against Austria Wien Away From Playing in the Women's Champions League

The draw for the third and final qualifying round was confirmed on Tuesday. Brann will play at home on August 26 and in Austria on September 2. Brann recently advanced after beating Mitrovica (Kosovo) and PAOK (Greece) in a mini-tournament in Hungary. The Bergen-based side were seeded and could only be drawn against other league champions.

Brann won the Toppserien comfortably last year. Servette (Switzerland), PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands) and Czarni Sosnowiec (Poland) were the other teams Brann could have faced. The Champions League group stage begins on September 22 and 23. The competition is played as a league phase, with each team playing six matches against six different opponents.

Last year, Vålerenga qualified and finished 13th, two points short of the knockout rounds. Brann were eliminated by Manchester United in the final qualifying round. Three seasons ago, the Bergen club reached the quarter-finals in their Champions League debut, where they were stopped by eventual winners Barcelona.
