Türkiye: Fuel Prices in Turkey Are Set to Rise Following a Surge in Global Oil Prices, With Diesel Seeing a Particularly Sharp Increase

The expected hike comes as oil prices approach $90 per barrel amid renewed tensions between the US and Iran. According to sector sources, the liter price of gasoline is expected to increase by 2 liras, while diesel is set to rise by 6.85 liras. However, due to Turkey's eşel mobil system — which offsets part of the increase through tax deductions — the actual pump price increase will be 1.50 liras for gasoline and 5.13 liras for diesel.

The price adjustment follows a halt in US-Iran talks, with mutual war compensation demands pushing oil prices upward. The weakening of expectations for an agreement between the two sides has contributed to the rally in crude prices. Once the expected increase is reflected at the pump, gasoline prices are projected to reach 71.42 liras per liter in Istanbul, 72.89 liras in Ankara, 72.67 liras in Izmir, and up to 74.03 liras in eastern provinces.

Diesel prices, with the larger increase, are expected to climb to 85.20 liras per liter in Istanbul, 86.32 liras in Ankara, and 86.59 liras in Izmir. In eastern provinces, diesel is expected to reach as high as 88.05 liras per liter.
