President Lee Jae-myung said Thursday that the government should actively consider revising minimum housing standards in light of climate disasters, calling for swift improvements to substandard dwellings such as goshiwon (one-room rentals), vinyl greenhouses and shanties.
Lee made the remarks during a Cabinet meeting held at the Government Complex Sejong, emphasizing the need to expedite improvement work on non-housing residences.
