A Driver Was Killed After His Pickup Truck Rear-ended a Truck in Northwestern Turkey

The accident occurred in the evening on the Keşan-Uzunköprü highway near Maltepe village in the Keşan district of Edirne province. Olcay Şener, driving the pickup truck with license plate 22 ACM 649 toward Uzunköprü from Keşan, crashed into the rear of a truck driven by R.S. (plate 22 DR 218) traveling in the same direction on a ramp near Maltepe village. Şener was trapped and seriously injured in the impact.
Upon notification, gendarmerie, police, firefighting, and medical teams were dispatched to the scene. Firefighters extricated Şener from the wreckage, and he was taken by ambulance to Keşan State Hospital. Despite all medical interventions, Şener succumbed to his injuries.
His body was placed in the morgue for an autopsy. The truck driver R.S. was taken to the gendarmerie command for questioning. An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
