Foulkes Unseats RI Governor in Primary, a First Since 2018

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Helena Foulkes has defeated Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee in the Democratic primary, marking the first time an incumbent governor has lost a primary in the state since 2018. Foulkes, a former CVS Health executive, secured the nomination with a campaign focused on education and economic reform. She will face Republican nominee Ashley Kalus in the general election this November.
