🇺🇸 United StatesATM Operates Just Like Any in the United States, Dispensing U.s. Dollars to People Living and Working Thousands of Miles From the Nearest

At the bottom of the world, the southernmost ATM on Earth sits at McMurdo Station, Antarctica, at 77°51′ south. It is the only cash machine anywhere on the continent, serving staff at Antarctica's largest research base. The ATM operates just like any in the United States, dispensing U.S. dollars to people living and working thousands of miles from the nearest conventional bank.
Cash can be used at the station's store and, before the station went dry, in its two bars. There are actually two AT Ms on site, but only one functions at a time—the other is kept for spare parts. Every two years, Wells Fargo sends a technician to Antarctica for maintenance and upgrades. Cash is recycled between the store and the AT Ms, so no new money needs to be delivered to the station.
