Domestic patent applications in Turkey rose 31% year-on-year in the first half of 2026, reaching 4,641, according to data from the Turkish Patent and Trademark Institution (TÜRKPATENT).
The increase reflects efforts under the National Technology Initiative and a strengthening industrial property ecosystem in the country. Domestic utility model applications also grew 23% compared to the same period in 2025, rising from 1,638 to 2,021. During the January-June period, TÜRKPATENT received 76,215 trademark applications, 16,567 domestic design applications, and 173 geographical indication applications. Domestic patent registrations increased 13% year-on-year to 1,726, while utility model registrations surged 53% to 1,395. In the first six months, 49,694 domestic trademarks and 11,608 domestic designs were registered, along with 66 national geographical indications.
Overall, 99,617 domestic industrial property right applications were filed and 64,489 were registered. Among the geographical indications registered during the period were numerous regional products.
