In This Cinematic Outing, Gupi's Story Expands Beyond the Apartment Building

The first trailer has been released for "Gupi and the Unsmiling King" (Gupi ve Gülmeyen Kral), the debut feature film from Turkish actress and writer Gupse Özay's popular animated series Gupi. The movie is set to hit theaters this fall in Turkey.
According to the official synopsis, Gupi and his friends enter an empty, abandoned flat in their building to deliver a cake, only to find themselves in a dark dimension where everyone has lost their joy. They must make the realm's ruler, the Unsmiling King, laugh to bring happiness back. Özay reprises her role as the voice of Gupi, with Arkın Aktaç directing.
The voice cast also includes Rüzgar Özacun, Dora Kaplan, and Ayris Kaplan. Promoted as Turkey's first IMAX animated film, Gupi and the Unsmiling King is scheduled for release on October 23. The project expands the franchise beyond TV screens following its success as one of Netflix's local Turkish productions. The trailer was shared as the release date approaches.
