🇺🇸 United StatesGTA 6 Will Not Ship on a Disc, But Will Be Sold at Retailers Via a Code in a Box

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick says discs "don't really make sense for the consumer" for big games like GTA 6, but he hasn't totally ruled out a physical release for the upcoming title. Speaking to IGN, Zelnick noted that more than 90% of Take-Two's sales are currently digital, adding that people "need to be connected" to play most games today. "So everyone's connected.
So it's just a matter of the most efficient way to get the title into people's hands, he said. GTA 6 is not shipping on a disc, though it will be available at retailers via a code in a box. Asked if Take-Two might ever release GTA 6 on a disc, Zelnick said, "I wouldn't rule out anything at this stage of the game.
What we've announced so far is what we're doing at the moment, but we are always open minded, he said. The executive does not foresee any negative financial impact from releasing GTA 6 as a digital-only game; on the contrary, it will likely help Take-Two make even more money. Zelnick expects gaming to move closer to near-universal digital adoption, but believes there will continue to be a small, niche market for physical games, similar to vinyl in music.
