🇰🇷 South KoreaSouth Korea: Seoul Vows Mega-zone Law by Year-end, Wary on 52-Hour Workweek Waiver

South Korea's presidential office said Tuesday it will push to enact a special law on "mega special zones" within the year, but signaled caution on exempting the 52-hour workweek, a measure that has drawn fierce opposition from labor groups.
Chief of Staff Kang Hoon-sik told reporters after a meeting chaired by President Lee Jae-myung that the government aims to shorten permitting and environmental impact assessment processes and quickly build residential and educational infrastructure. He said the presidential office will set up a dedicated task force and the prime minister's office will host a pan-governmental council to support inter-ministerial cooperation.
