Turkey Detains Eight Over False Prison Riot Posts in Konya

Turkish authorities have ordered the detention of eight people over social media posts claiming a riot broke out at a prison in Konya, Turkey. Police in Konya said the claim, which circulated early on Aug. 10, was false.

The Konya chief prosecutor's office launched an investigation into posts saying "A riot broke out, there are dead and wounded" at the Konya E-Type Closed Penitentiary Institution and issued detention orders for eight suspects. Efforts to apprehend the suspects are ongoing.
