White House Has Begun Issuing the First Tariff Refunds, Totaling $100 Billion to Importing Companies, After the Supreme Court Ruled the Use

The refunds cover tariffs collected since the Liberation Day in April 2025, which were struck down by the court in February. The ruling found the 1977 law, which allows the president to act in emergencies, was improperly used for tariff collection. Consumers remain excluded from these reimbursements. The full amount the administration will eventually have to return is expected to be higher, as this initial payout represents only a portion of the total.
