Steam Deck Users Can Now Play Playstation Games Via Cloud Streaming Without Owning a PS5 Console, Thanks to a New Third-party

The app, called Asobi: Remote Play, is available through Steam Playtest for Steam Deck, Steam Machine, and other Linux systems. It supports standard PS4 and PS5 Remote Play, and notably, cloud game streaming through PlayStation Plus Premium. To use the cloud feature, a PlayStation Network account and an active PlayStation Plus Premium subscription are required.

Supported games include titles from the PlayStation Plus catalog and some digital PS5 games the user owns, though not every purchased PS5 game is playable via cloud; availability varies by Sony's cloud catalog, account, and region. The basic version offers 1080p at 30 FPS SDR streaming with automatic bitrate adjustment. Premium features include 1080p at 60 FPS, HDR, manual bitrate control, low-latency modes, controller vibration, and 4K upscaling options.

The app is currently in Steam Playtest, with all premium features free during testing. It is listed for free on the Steam store, with an Asobi Premium package also available; its final price has not been announced. The developer team says a Windows version is in the works.
