🇪🇸 SpainThe Trio Underwent Physical Tests and Control Checks on Monday, With Plans to Join the Rest of the Squad for Training on Tuesday

Athletic Club's World Cup winners Unai Simón, Aymeric Laporte and Nico Williams returned to training at Lezama on Monday morning after their post-tournament holidays, following Spain's World Cup final victory over Argentina. The trio underwent physical tests and control checks on Monday, with plans to join the rest of the squad for training on Tuesday. Their return brings Athletic's total number of World Cup winners to five, after Llorente and Javi Martínez triumphed in 2010. The 2026 champions will be honored on the San Mamés pitch on August 22, ahead of the LaLiga opener against Sevilla.
The club will also pay tribute to De la, youth coach and technical staff member, with the ceremony taking place in the presidential box. Simón, Laporte and Nico will have a week of preseason with the group before focusing on the first league match against Sevilla. Coach Terzic, who has already met them at the facilities, will decide whether to include them in the squad for Friday's final summer friendly against Atalanta (8:45 PM).
The German coach now has a full squad, and the club's task is to offload several players. Agirrezabala's departure is expected to be announced shortly, while Mikel González's working group must find destinations for Vencedor and Gorosabel, with a low-cost transfer anticipated. Additionally, a couple of loan moves are possible before the transfer window closes.
