Victoria to Toronto Was Canceled After a Young Child Refused to Buckle Up and Stand in His Seat, Forcing the Plane to Return to the Gate

The PD444 flight was preparing to depart from Victoria International Airport to Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada when the incident occurred. Despite efforts by the child's parent and cabin crew, the child would not sit down, prompting the aircraft to return to the terminal. The delay caused by removing the child and parent, unloading baggage, and re-completing official procedures pushed the departure past the airport's 12:30 a.m. runway closure, leading to a full cancellation.

Spokesman Brad Cicero apologized to other passengers and said the flight departed for Toronto the next afternoon. Passenger Aryeh Kozuch said the child was not being disruptive but was scared and tried to hide under the seat. Another passenger, Hillary Hertzberg, criticized the airline for poor communication and inadequate accommodation arrangements after the cancellation. The flight eventually departed for Toronto the following afternoon.
