Russian doctors have made medical history by performing skull surgery on a 101-year-old patient, according to the press service of Samara State Medical University. The operation addressed inflammation of the sphenoid sinus, part of the internal base of the skull. Surgeons used the domestically produced Avtoplan surgical navigation system, which enables pre-planned procedures and significantly reduces the risk of damaging critical brain areas.
