The driver, identified as F.B., had previously had his license confiscated for drunk driving. The incident occurred on Mustafa Kemal Pasa Boulevard in the Mevlana neighborhood when F.B.'s vehicle hit the curb after failing to negotiate a turn. Police and medical teams were dispatched to the scene.
F.B. refused medical treatment and obstructed the ambulance crew, leaning against the ambulance door to prevent them from leaving. He also refused a police alcohol test. Authorities fined him 350,000 lira for refusing the test and driving without a valid license.
Checks revealed the van was uninsured and lacked a valid inspection certificate. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The driver's license had been previously revoked for driving under the influence.
