Broncos Try Safety Brandon Jones at Kicker While Will Lutz Attends Drew Brees' Hall of Fame Ceremony

The Denver Broncos appear to have another option at kicker for the regular season if something happens to Wil Lutz during a game. The team does not have a kicking competition this fall, as Lutz, who earned a Pro Bowl nomination in 2019, is set to play in his fourth season with the team. Before joining head coach Sean Payton in Denver, Lutz played with the New Orleans Saints from 2016 to 2022. Lutz and Payton missed Saturday's practice to attend Drew Brees' enshrinement in the Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.

With Lutz in the Midwest, the Broncos gave safety Brandon Jones an opportunity to attempt field goals at practice. Per the Associated Press, Jones made three of his four field goal attempts on Saturday, including two consecutive attempts from 35 yards. Jones did not attempt a field goal in high school or college, but he has experience playing soccer.
