Padres Predicted to Sign Rays Pitcher Freddy Peralta in Free Agency

The San Diego Padres are being predicted to sign Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Freddy Peralta in free agency this offseason.
The San Diego Padres are already being connected to a notable pending unrestricted free agent pitcher. In a recent article for Bleacher Report, Kerry Miller predicted that the Padres will sign Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Freddy Peralta to a four-year, $84 million contract this offseason in free agency. Several teams are going to view him as a tantalizing buy-low candidate, though.
Foremost among them: The San Diego Padres, who have basically their entire starting rotation headed for free agency and a lot of work to do this winter. Prediction: 4 years, $84M with the San Diego Padres, Miller wrote. Seeing the Padres being viewed as a potential landing spot for Peralta makes sense.
He would have the potential to be a strong addition to their pitching rotation if he bounced back from his tough 2026 season. In 23 appearances split between the New York Mets and Rays, he has a 5-9 record and a 5.37 ERA.
