EU Proposes Sweeping Overhaul of Public Procurement Rules

The European Commission has announced plans to overhaul the rules governing the roughly €2 trillion in public contracts awarded each year across the bloc. The proposed changes aim to simplify procedures, strengthen transparency, and make it easier for smaller companies to compete for government tenders. The commission says the current framework, in place since 2014, has become too complex and burdensome for both public authorities and businesses.
