Chris Murphy Criticizes Trump's Inability to End Iran War, Backs Any Deal to Exit Conflict

Speaking on NBC's Meet the Press, Murphy told host Kristen Welker that he would support any effort to end the war at this point, even a terrible-bad deal, as traffic remains heavily restricted through the Strait of Hormuz and the U.S. has been unable to pressure Iran into accepting an agreement that would reopen the strait and address its nuclear program. His remarks come as the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday that Trump is considering what would essentially be a concession of defeat on one of his main military objectives: securing an agreement to destroy Iran's remaining nuclear material and impose legal restrictions on its enrichment and development capabilities for years. Instead, the Journal reports that Trump has privately floated to aides the possibility of walking away with a deal to reopen the strait while leaving the nuclear issue unaddressed.
