🇷🇺 RussiaRussia: Taiwan Navy Debuts Two Midsize Strike Drones in Han Kuang Drills
Taiwan's navy showcased two midsize strike drones on Saturday during its largest annual military exercise, the Han Kuang drills, in Zuoying on the island's southwest coast.
The fixed-wing, propeller-driven aircraft, described by officials as locally built medium-size suicide drones, loitered for about 30 minutes above the beach in a littoral combat drill simulating an attack. It was the first time these drones were displayed at the exercise, which rehearses Taiwan's response to a potential Chinese invasion. A navy spokesperson said the Armament Bureau provided the drone for testing but declined to comment on specifications or design influences from recent wars in Ukraine or the Middle East.
The one-way drones were not shown launching an attack, and it is unclear if they represent final designs. Ukraine has used similar fixed-wing drones this year to strike Russian forces roughly 30 to 300 km behind front lines, disrupting supply routes. Zuoying, home to Taiwan's largest naval base, is about 295 km (183 miles) from mainland China.
