Türkiye: the Detention Was Carried Out Under a Court Order Issued After the Investigation Into His Online Activities

Muzaffer Şirin, the leader of Galatasaray's UltraAslan fan group, has been detained in Istanbul, Turkey, on charges of organized ticket scalping fraud and publicly spreading misleading information. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office's Bureau for Investigation of Illegal Betting and Sports Crimes launched an investigation into Şirin following his social media posts. Şirin, who also goes by the alias 'Sebahattin, was taken into custody on charges including drug possession and use, organized ticket scalping fraud, and publicly spreading misleading information. The detention was carried out under a court order issued after the investigation into his online activities.
