Isaac TeSlaa isn't surprising anyone this year. After making the most of his time as a rookie, the second-year wide receiver enters the 2026 season with a chance to carve out a much bigger role in Detroit's offense. Training camp hasn't been perfect, though, and that's probably a good thing.

Campbell praised TeSlaa for carrying himself like a veteran, but he also challenged him to keep expanding his game. Making spectacular catches down the field is great, but the Lions want to see him become a more complete receiver by sharpening his releases and running a more polished route tree. That's the kind of coaching young players usually want to hear.

It means the staff sees a bigger future, not a finished product. TeSlaa already showed during his rookie season that he can make the most of limited opportunities.
