Trump Has Mentioned Grass in at Least 45 Public Events or Interviews Over the Past 18 Months

President Trump will tell you the grass is always greener. And he means it. The president frequently touts his knack for creating perfect lawns, bringing up grass in at least 45 public events or interviews over the past 18 months.

That is at least once every 12 days. Trump noted his ongoing enthusiasm for turf as recently as Monday, telling military spouses at a White House event: Grass is like humans. The commander-in-chief even turned his focus to the plant during an interview with The Spectator just five weeks after his second inauguration.

“You see the grass outside, right? Trump asked. Some people would like to leave it.

But the problem is, you can’t. Trump’s mentions of grass have already far exceeded the 26 times he brought it up during his first four-year term. However, his love for the plant goes back much further than that. I know a lot about grass because I own a lot of golf courses, he said while announcing the recipients of the Kennedy Center Honors last August.

And, if you don’t have good grass, you’re not in business very long. A week later, while visiting park police officers in Washington D.C., the president declared, I know more about grass than any human being, I think, anywhere in the world. Trump’s background as a real estate developer also plays a role in his love for grass, as have his attempts to remake Washington, D.C., in his own image.

When asked about Trump’s D.C. renovations and love of grass, White House spokesperson Davis Ingle told The Independent that no other president has done more to beautify our Nation’s interior than President Trump. From restoring our treasured landmarks, which had suffered years of abuse and vandalism, to cleaning our parks and the Reflecting Pool, President Trump’s bold vision ensured that America rang in its 250th birthday celebration with glory and pride, Ingle continued. Matt Koch, the lawns research fellow for gardening giant Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, met recently with the president to discuss planting new grass on the White House’s South Lawn.

Koch proudly considers himself a grass nerd” and came away convinced Trump is an honorary one after speaking with him in the Oval Office. An amazing dialogue, talking grass for half an hour, Koch said. Going back and forth about grass.

Last September, while hosting Republican lawmakers for dinner, he pledged of green spaces around Washington D.C: We’re gonna re-grass them with the best guys in the country. Trump joked about grass while pardoning two turkeys, named Waddle and Gobble, during a Thanksgiving ceremony last year. Despite their size, Secretary Kennedy has formally certified that these are the first ever MAHA turkeys, he said, noting that they had been consuming grass-fed beef. Trump even mentioned the plant while speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos earlier this year, pointing again to his D.C. renovations.

We don't have to worry about fences anymore, he remarked. All of the places the grasses are cut and replaced with new grass. Trump added, In many cases it's all going to happen in the spring.
