Ghana Needs $21Bn to Restore Lands Degraded by Illegal Mining

Ghana will need an estimated $21 billion to reclaim and restore lands degraded largely by illegal mining and other destructive activities. The figure was announced by the government as part of a comprehensive plan to address the environmental damage caused by unregulated small-scale mining, known locally as galamsey, as well as other harmful practices.
