Expert: Girne Ferry Captain Could Have Averted Disaster by Stopping Ship

Göker, who examined documents and footage with police, said the captain failed to inform passengers in time, did not reduce speed, and did not implement an orderly evacuation plan. He also stated the captain left the ship before the passengers. The simplest thing he could have done was to cut the engine and stop.
If the ship had been stopped, the sinking could have happened much later. Passengers could have been informed and everyone evacuated in an orderly manner.
