Tunisian Journalist Yousfi Undergoes Emergency Surgery in Custody

The union expressed "further concern" over his health and said Yousfi suffered a "sudden illness" overnight between Friday and Saturday and was taken to a hospital in the capital, where doctors decided urgent surgery was necessary. The SNJT said the authorities holding him bear "full responsibility" for his physical integrity and demanded he receive all necessary care and medical monitoring.

The union renewed its call for Yousfi's immediate release, also to allow him to continue treatment and recovery in adequate conditions.
