Jesus Vivas Told the European Parliament on Thursday That at Least 100 People Died During Last Week's Mass Migrant Crossings From Morocco

Testifying in Brussels, Vivas described the surge as an "invasion" and said reception centres had collapsed. EU migration commissioner Magnus Brunner said Spain assured Schengen was safe but warned Europe's borders remain "vulnerable" due to reliance on one neighbour. About 72,000 migrants entered Ceuta last Thursday and Friday, nearly matching the enclave's population of over 80,000. Vivas said local warnings were ignored and Moroccan authorities refused to engage. Spain declined to attend the hearing.
