Levy With Reckless Manslaughter Over the July 2025 Shooting of Palestinian Activist Odeh Hathaleen in Umm Al-khair Village in the Occupied

It is the first indictment of an Israeli for killing a Palestinian in the West Bank in nearly three years, according to rights group B'Tselem. Hathaleen, a teacher and father of three, featured in the Oscar-winning documentary No Other Land. The charges also include armed trespassing and malicious property damage during a confrontation involving settlers operating an excavator.

Levy, who has denied firing the fatal shot, said he would fight for his innocence, while prosecutors accused him of providing "de facto support for terrorism. Hathaleen's family lawyer called the charges a potential "turning point. At least 1,110 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the West Bank since October 2023, per the UN. Levy was sanctioned by the UK in 2024 and previously by the US under the Biden administration.
