Sony's Playstation 6 Could Deliver More Than Double the Performance of the PS5, Thanks to AMD's Next-generation RDNA 5 Graphics Architecture

The claim comes from Moore's Law Is Dead (MLID), a channel known for leaks, which says it based the information on internal AMD simulation data prepared two years ago. According to one simulation, the PS6 would achieve over 2x performance gains even in a scenario with only 25% higher memory bandwidth and 33% more compute units than the PS5. MLID stressed the figures are internal estimates, not real product performance, so the final console—expected to launch in 2027 or 2028—could vary based on hardware and software optimization. The new leak aligns with earlier reports from September 2025, which suggested the PS6 would feature 52 to 55 RDNA 5 compute units, up to 10 Zen 6 CPU cores, and 640 GB/s memory bandwidth, potentially delivering 2.5 to 3x rasterization and 6 to 12x ray tracing improvements over the PS5. For context, the standard PS5 has 36 RDNA 2 compute units, 8 Zen 2 cores, and 448 GB/s bandwidth, while the PS5 Pro bumps compute units to 60 and bandwidth to 576 GB/s. None of this has been confirmed by Sony or AMD.
