Colombian Prosecutors Ask Supreme Court to Probe Seven Governors Over $3T Embezzlement

The cases were forwarded to the Supreme Court for governors of Magdalena, Vichada, Amazonas, Guaviare, and Vaupes, including former governors Rafael Martinez of Magdalena and Alvaro Leon of Vichada. Arrests included the mayor of Maria la Baja, a contractor, and several current and former fund directors. The fund has been under investigation since 2024 after irregularities surfaced in a high school construction in Huila, school transport funds in Casanare, and funds for indigenous reserves in La Guajira.

A report by defunct radio station W found more than 100 contracts awarded without open bidding. Zuleta was hospitalized after a raid on his home and is expected to cooperate with prosecutors.
