Allan Gardens Food Bank Closes After Sewer Pipe Failure

Toronto's Allan Gardens Food Bank, serving about 650 families weekly, has temporarily closed after a sewer pipe failure at its location inside St. Luke's United Church on Sherbourne Street. Operations halted July 31, and the board decided to seek a new permanent home for long-term stability and safety. The food bank, which relies solely on private donations, will stay closed Thursday and Friday.
Director Benjamin Blais said, We are actively looking for a new space so we can get back to doing what we do best: taking care of each other. The organization is appealing to landlords and community partners for help finding a new location.
