Turkey's Security Council Reviews Anti-terror Progress and Regional Issues

The council's statement said consultations were held on next steps in efforts marking a historic phase for securing the country's and region's security, stability, and prosperity. The meeting covered operations against PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETÖ, and DEAŞ, as well as recent international developments. On the 10th anniversary of the July 15 coup attempt, the council assessed the fight against FETÖ and vowed to continue measures to fully eliminate the network.

The statement noted the NATO Summit hosted by Turkey as a critical threshold for the alliance and reaffirmed Turkey's constructive stance in sharing advanced capabilities with allies. It highlighted risks from renewed Iran-US clashes spreading to regional countries and global trade routes, urging all parties to avoid force and return to negotiations for lasting peace. The council stressed that strategic deadlock in the Russia-Ukraine war cannot be overcome by turning the Black Sea and Caspian regions into conflict zones, calling on warring sides to de-escalate and take concrete steps toward peace.
