Three Arrested for Alleged Gang-rape of Two Minor Girls in Moving Car

Three men from Assam's Cachar district were arrested after two minor girls from Mizoram alleged they were abducted and gang-raped inside a moving car, police said Thursday. Amjad Hussain Laskar (20) from Rajnagar, Saddam Hussain Laskar (23) from Bhaga Bazar, and Rinku Das (25) from Khaspur were held after the survivors, aged 15 and 16, reached Dholai police station around 2:30 am on August 3 and reported the assault. Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Rajat Pal said the girls claimed they were raped despite resisting, and the case was registered under sections 70(2) and 87 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with section 6 of the POCSO Act.
Both victims underwent medical exams and are being cared for under juvenile procedures, with families notified. Police are investigating how the girls, residents of Kolasib district in Mizoram, came into contact with the accused. They said that the accused tried to rape them and later stated that they were raped despite resisting. Since both of them claimed to be minors, we proceeded with the matter under the Juvenile Justice system, Pal said.
