Houthi Missile and Drone Strikes Kill at Least 30 Yemeni Troops

At least 30 Yemeni government troops were killed in Houthi rebel attacks on military camps in central Yemen, according to reports. Missiles and drones struck camps run by the Emergency Forces in the al-Ruwaik area of Marib province and the al-Abr area of Hadramawt. Health Minister Qasim Bahibah condemned the "treacherous" attack, saying it was intended to destabilise security, but did not provide a death toll.

A Houthi spokesman, whose Iran-backed group controls much of north-west Yemen, said they targeted "large Saudi military build-ups" preparing for an offensive. The Saudi-led coalition, which supports the government, had no immediate comment. The US mission to Yemen called the attacks "cowardly" and another example of their terrorism against the Yemeni people.

Yemen's civil war began in 2014 when the Houthis ousted the government from Sanaa, escalating in 2015 with Saudi-led coalition intervention. The conflict has killed more than 150,000 people and left over 22 million needing aid, per the UN.
