Mohamed Salah Joins Trabzonspor on Two-year Deal

Mohamed Salah has joined Trabzonspor on a two-year deal, the Turkish club confirmed Thursday, ending months of speculation about the Liverpool legend's next move. The 34-year-old Egyptian forward, who wore the number 10 shirt for his national team, will don the same number for Trabzonspor from the 2026-27 season after teammate Ernest Muci agreed to relinquish it. Trabzonspor, based in Trabzon, Turkey, finished third in last season's Super Lig and will compete in this month's Europa League play-offs.
The club announced to the Turkish stock exchange that Salah will earn £14.5m per season plus a 20% share of revenue from Salah-branded merchandise. Salah chose Trabzonspor over lucrative offers from Saudi Pro League clubs, including Al-Ittihad, and MLS side Sporting Kansas City, opting to remain in European football. The move marks the biggest signing in Trabzonspor's history, with hundreds of fans gathering to welcome him. Turkish football's growing appeal to established stars is evident, with Victor Osimhen, Leroy Sane, Ilkay Gundogan, Nathan Ake, and Leandro Trossard now in the Super Lig.
