Police Found the Death Suspicious, and After Contradictory Statements, Five Family Members Were Detained

Afyonkarahisar, Turkey — A 4-year-old boy who died in January after being taken to a hospital with claims of a fall was murdered, authorities said, with his stepfather confessing to the killing. Yunus Emre Yakar died at a hospital after being brought in by his mother, Z.K., and step-grandfather, M.K., on Jan. 24 from the Işıklar neighborhood.

Police found the death suspicious, and after contradictory statements, five family members were detained. The Jandarma Crime Investigation Team (JASAT) took over the case, and the family admitted that B.K., the stepfather, killed the child. M.K. told investigators that B.K. handed him the boy, saying, I hit him a couple of times, he fainted.

Take a look. The family then took the child to the hospital, where he died. It also emerged that B.K. married Z.K. in a formal ceremony just three days after the killing, and Z.K. allegedly concealed the crime due to pressure from her husband and his family.
