Amy Goodman: Exclusives Are Failures If Not Shared Worldwide

Her philosophy is the focus of the documentary Steal This Story, Please!, directed by Tia Lessin and Carl Deal, which follows her career from community radio to the New York-based daily news show she founded. The film opens with Goodman confronting P Wells Griffith III, then Donald Trump's climate adviser, at the 2018 Cop summit in Katowice, Poland, where he dodged her questions about coal and Trump's claim that climate change is a Chinese hoax. Democracy Now!, funded by viewer donations and free of advertising and government grants, recently marked 30 years at Riverside Church in New York, where Angela Davis spoke on dissent and musicians including Bruce Springsteen performed.

Goodman recalled Martin Luther King's 1967 anti-Vietnam war speech there, which drew corporate media criticism. The documentary also features Democracy Now! co-host Juan González and covers Goodman's reports on climate summits, earthquakes, and massacres.
