The Attacks Came As the Seventh Round of Us-mediated Talks Between Lebanon and Israel Continued in Rome

Israeli forces wounded eight people in overnight airstrikes and artillery fire on towns near the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, despite a ceasefire and ongoing negotiations, Lebanon's Health Ministry said. The strikes hit the Melab neighborhood of Burj al-Shimali, about 5 kilometers from Tyre, with three drone attacks followed by a fourth from warplanes, and also targeted shared land between Mansouri and Majdal Zoun, while Mansouri came under artillery and tank fire. The attacks came as the seventh round of US-mediated talks between Lebanon and Israel continued in Rome.
Israel launched a major offensive on Lebanon on March 2, occupying several southern towns, and Lebanon's government says over 1 million people have been displaced. The ceasefire, in effect since April 17, has been extended several times, and the Health Ministry has reported 4,333 deaths since March 2. A framework agreement was signed on June 26 after the fifth round of direct talks in Washington.
