Regional government spokesman Miguel Ángel García Martín said Thursday that the proceeds will go toward rebuilding the Sierra Oeste area after wildfires, via a dividend distribution by the public company that owns the properties, Planifica Madrid Proyectos y Obras M.P.S.A. García Martín, who was given responsibility for the purchase by regional president Isabel Díaz Ayuso, said the property was bought to serve as temporary offices during renovation of the Real Casa de Correos, the regional government's seat. He noted the region had already sold a residential property in Santa Catalina this year for 26 million euros plus VAT, and that the government saw an opportunity to acquire the penthouse for official use. However, he said the priority shifted to wildfire reconstruction, prompting the immediate sale of the five properties.

García Martín accused the left of "trying to find ghosts where there are none, citing what he called "state corruption" involving the judicial conviction of the prime minister's brother, the former state attorney general, and the legal situation of Begoña Gómez. He insisted all properties were acquired to serve the region and stressed that, unlike other regional presidents or "half of the ministers in this country, Ayuso has no official residence. He also criticized the prime minister for vacationing at La Mareta during wildfires and the Ceuta migrant crisis. The spokesman said the regional government has provided clear explanations from the start and publishes all administrative expenses on transparency portals.
