Time Out, Founded As a London Print Magazine in 1968, Ceased Physical Publication in 2022 But Continues Online

Time Out will open its first UK food market in London's West End in summer 2028, at 10 Piccadilly overlooking Piccadilly Circus, after securing a deal with The Crown Estate. The venue will feature about 15 restaurants, bars, and food businesses, plus live entertainment and cultural programming curated by Time Out's editors. The move marks a strategic pivot toward food-focused markets amid pressures on its traditional media operations.
Time Out, founded as a London print magazine in 1968, ceased physical publication in 2022 but continues online. Its first food market opened in Lisbon in 2014, and it now operates 13 markets globally. Earlier London plans near Waterloo and Spitalfields were withdrawn due to pandemic disruption and planning issues.
New venues are planned in Delhi, Abu Dhabi, Sao Paulo, Prague, and Riyadh. CEO Chris Ohlund called the partnership "one of the most significant milestones in Time Out's nearly 60-year history, adding that bringing the concept home to London is "a celebration of where we began and a statement of where we are going. Time Out's annual 25 Best Cities list, released in March, ranked London fourth, behind Melbourne, Shanghai, and Edinburgh; New York dropped from third to fifth.
