Government Admits Labor Data Will Need Months of Reinterpretation to Isolate Regularization Impact

The government itself acknowledges that figures will need reinterpretation for months to isolate the regularization's impact. Social Security affiliations recently surpassed 22.5 million, and unemployment stands at around 2.3 million, a low not seen since 2007. Temporary employment has dropped to historically low levels, with 40% of monthly contracts registered as permanent and an overall rate of 12.3% in the private sector, though it exceeds 27% in the public sector, according to the EPA. However, the reduction in temporary contracts is influenced by the shift toward fixed-discontinuous contracts, which count as permanent despite workers alternating between activity and inactivity. There are currently 940,000 fixed-discontinuous workers registered with Social Security, but the government does not reveal how many are inactive; Randstad Research estimates around 900,000 were inactive in July, nearly matching active ones.
