Two Seriously Injured in Three-car Crash in South Iceland

Six people were injured in total, two of them seriously, according to Íris Edda Heimisdóttir, chief inspector of the South Iceland Police. The Icelandic Coast Guard helicopter, three ambulances, and a fire engine were dispatched to the scene. The helicopter transported four people to Reykjavík for treatment, including the two seriously injured.

Two others were taken by ambulance to Selfoss. A witness said rescue workers had to use cutting tools to free one of the injured from a vehicle. Police said their investigation unit was on its way to the scene. The Ring Road was closed in both directions until the investigation is complete.
