Claude Joins Apple Carplay As Fifth AI Chatbot

Although Anthropic has not made an official announcement, the Claude app now works on CarPlay. The addition of CarPlay support to Anthropic's iPhone app marks the second AI chatbot app to receive such support this week. The Claude app on CarPlay opens with a "Start hands-free conversation" screen, offering options to start a new chat or access recent conversations.

In-app controls include mute, unmute, ending conversations, and resuming them, along with visual indicators showing when Claude is listening or speaking. Apple added support for third-party chatbots to CarPlay with the iOS 26.4 update. Chatbot apps with CarPlay integration must add voice control screen support, use Apple's designated CarPlay template, and receive authorization from Apple. Currently, the AI bots available on Apple CarPlay include ChatGPT, Grok, Perplexity, Meta AI, and Claude.
